In English please!
23 Mar
My old website used to have a phrase line which stated that my posts would sometimes be in English and sometimes in Dutch. I liked to write in both languages. Not only so that all my readers would be able to read at least some of my posts, but also because I felt more International than Dutch. This seems to have shifted.
The longer I reside in Macedonia, the stronger my Dutch sense gets.

I speak to Boyfriend in Dutch, not just so that other people won’t know what I am talking about, but also because it feels good. It’s a connection to the country I left behind for at least a while.
I also stopped writing in English, not just because it’s easier for me, but also because of the connection with The Netherlands. It gives me the feeling I write for the Dutchies I left behind.
But ofcourse I still have all my international friends, new and old, who also like to read about what I’m doing and what I’m thinking about. And they complain. So it’s kind of silly of me that I stopped writing in English.
Not that I am writing for others, I mean, I’m not getting paid doing any of this, so I’m still writing because I like it, but still, it would mean more people can read the posts I put quite some time in.
Besides that, I’m already noticing just writing this blog that my English writing skills have become a bit rusty. Which is a shame. So it would be good to take up my old habit of writing in English again.
This also works good in combination with my intention to step up my Macedonian learning process, which I guess will be easier if I drop this one language from my daily communication.
So, from now on, my posts will be in English again. Maybe not all of them, but most of them. It’s for a good cause! So wish me luck!

Dank je wel!!!
OK I wish you good luck by writing in English and hope that all your Macedonian and other foreign Friends will write you a lot of lovely comments!
