I found an amazing WordPress template for my new website a while ago. I dove into it one afternoon, only to find out a few hours later the template was absolutely useless for me. I was a bit dissapointed after that, but this Friday, I had everything set up again. With nine templates to explore, I was ready for the challenge.

“A new website?” you might think. Well, this blog will stay just like it is for the moment, but my two other domains, lindapoort.nl and lindapoort.com, need to get their own appearance and content. I purchased the domains because I was starting as a freelancer under my own name, so that is what I should be using them for, but I was a bit slow in working it out. (So far, they still look exactly the same as ploenk.nl, which is not really professional.)

Why did I postpone? Well, the whole time I was thinking: “I need to figure out first how exactly I want to present myself”, “I need to work on a business plan first”. I didn’t just want to create a new website, only to realize later I did it wrong.

But then after I did all the thinking, made the plan and figured out my business idea was not going to be my dream job, things changed again. Which in a way proved that it had been a good idea to wait with the website. But still, it would have been better to have sómething than nothing!

I am not sorry I took all this time to think everything over, but next time I will certainly do things differently. I mean, what could really have gone wrong? It would have just cost me a bit more time. And I certainly believe in the saying: “You learn from every mistake you make”. I certainly learned a lot this Friday!

Okay, I’m still not a WordPress expert, I still need help with some design things, but I’m pretty proud of what I accomplished so far.

Wait, do not immediately go and check my lindapoort domains, because they are still not online. After I finish the design, I first need to deal with some back-end issues and then with the transfer. There is still a long way to go.

But, I hope to proudly present my new website in three weeks. Stay tuned!
