My Macedonian
28 May
When my international friends in The Netherlands used to ask me how my Macedonian was, I always replied by saying: “Well, it’s better than your Dutch!” I kind of knew it was true, but I could never be sure. Until now.
I’m far from speaking proper Macedonian, I still need to think before every sentence, the person I’m speaking with need to speak very slow and I cannot have a complete understandable conversation without some kind of translator around, but I dó speak Macedonian and I can have some kind of conversation.
This can be confirmed by several people I spoke with and wrote to in the last few days. Yay!
Now all I need to do is to keep reading, writing, speaking and listening. And to study word lists to increase my vocabulary. I’m sure this is not a matter of weeks, or even months, but more like years, but my hopes are high. I reached a new level, and I’m ready for improvement!
