Going to the ballet

“I still haven’t been to a ballet, partly because I have no clue if I would like it. Who will invite me to go together someday?” is what I write on Facebook. Ten days later, I’m sitting with five others in the Makedonska Opera i Balet, ready for Raymonda.

Sunset in Kokino

The advantage of not planning too far in advance shows on Friday morning, when I wake up feeling sick. We were thinking of going away for the weekend and do a major hike in a mountain far away, but even though I feel I will be better tomorrow, a major hike might not be the best idea. So we change our plans and do not phone the mountain hut.

To plan or not to plan

There is no escaping it. With things-to-see, things-to-do, friends visiting and the knowledge that tickets are cheaper when you book them in advance, planning is a must. And so we know that our weekends are fully booked until the end of September, some friends will visit in October and my next ticket to The Netherlands is on December 1st.

Fruit picking

When we arrive in the village of grandma and grandpa, we first hide out in their cool stone house with thick walls which keep out most of the hot sunshine. At the end of the afternoon, we get to work.
